NEAR Protocol faces selling pressure

NEAR Protocol (NEAR) faced selling pressure, joining other major layer-1 cryptocurrencies in a broader market decline. The token traded around $3.71, down approximately 7.8% over 24 hours, according to the market snapshot provided. Its market ranking stood at No. 21, with NEAR trading at approximately 0.00004889 BTC.

The decline adds to a difficult period for NEAR holders. The token has retreated significantly from its October peak near $6, giving back a substantial portion of its recent rally. Market analysts have pointed to weakening short-term momentum and the loss of important moving averages as signs that sellers remain in control. Traders can follow the NEAR price data for the latest price action.

NEAR Falls Below Key Short Term Price Levels

NEAR's decline has placed greater attention on the 3.75–3.85 support range. Market analysis published around November 4 identified this area as an important zone where buyers could attempt to slow the correction.

A sustained move below $3.75 could expose the token to further downside toward $3.60 and potentially $3.40. These levels are technical areas to monitor rather than guaranteed price targets.

On the upside, NEAR needs to recover the 4.20–4.35 region to show that buying interest is returning. A stronger recovery above 4.30–4.60 could improve the short-term technical picture.

The token has also slipped below its short- and medium-term moving averages. However, some technical analysis indicates that NEAR remains above longer-term moving averages around $3.65 and $3.00. This suggests that the broader market structure has weakened but has not necessarily broken down completely.

Trading volume and momentum indicators will be important in determining whether the current decline is approaching a temporary floor. A move into oversold territory alone would not confirm a reversal.

NEAR's Tokenomics Changes as Price Faces Pressure

The price decline comes shortly after an important governance decision for the NEAR ecosystem.

On November 3, NEAR Protocol's House of Stake approved a proposal to gradually reduce maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6%. The proposal received 99.96% support and could prevent approximately 11.8 million NEAR from entering circulation over two years.

The reduction is expected to take place over 24 months, subject to validator adoption and the required protocol upgrade. It is not an immediate change to the token's circulating supply.

As covered in Altcoin Buzz's report on NEAR Protocol's approved token issuance reduction, the decision aims to reduce token inflation while changing the rewards available to stakers. The proposal estimates that gross staking yield could decline from approximately 5.27% to 3.37% once the new issuance target is reached.

This development could influence NEAR's longer-term supply dynamics, but it has not prevented short-term selling pressure.

NEAR Intents Activity Provides a Different Ecosystem Signal

Despite the weakness in NEAR's token price, activity across its ecosystem has continued to attract attention.

NEAR Intents processed approximately $10.4 billion in transaction volume during Q3 2026, according to figures reported by Altcoin Buzz. The service also generated more than $52 million in cumulative fees, with over $8 million allocated toward buybacks.

These figures highlight the difference between network activity and token price performance. Growing transaction volume and fee generation may support the ecosystem's longer-term development, but they do not guarantee immediate demand for NEAR in the open market.

For now, traders are likely to focus on whether the token can defend the $3.75 support area. A sustained recovery above $4.30 would provide an early sign of improving momentum, while a breakdown below support could extend the correction.
